In dem soeben erschienenen Buch „Legendary Authors and the Clothes They Wore“ von Terry Newman (Verlag: Harper Design) wird versucht bisher Verborgenes herzustellen zwischen der Kleidung von Schriftstellern und deren Prosa.
Man erfährt u.a., dass Beckett eine Gucci Tasche trug und Clarks Wallabee Schuhe liebte, Proust als „the godfather of fashion“ bezeichnet werden kann (Yves Saint Laurent soll von seinem Kleidungsstil „obsessed“ gewesen sein). Dorothee Parker arbeitete für Vogue. Hemingway….., Gertrude Stein….,
Die Buchautorin zu Ihrem neuen Buch: “When I sat down the first morning and started writing about Samuel Beckett, I thought: ‘Oh, my goodness. Am I doing something completely outrageous?’”
Paula Cocozza in einem Artikel in „The Guardian“ vom 16.7.2017 schreibt: „The title reads like a provocation: Legendary Authors and the Clothes They Wore. What? Shouldn’t authors, especially “legendary” ones, be exempt from fashion scrutiny? Surely we should look at their words, not their outfits. If they produced great works of art, who cares how they dressed?
